he ESPN X Games Harley-David-
son Flat Track race was designed
to be the best of the best invita-
tional, made for TV, racing for gold, silver
and bronze medals. After a two-year run
in Austin, Texas, the race, along with the
whole X Games experience, moved north
to the Land of Lakes.
With the majority of the games located
inside the US Bank Stadium in downtown
Minneapolis, a dirt oval was constructed
in a parking lot adjacent to the Mall
of America a short distance south in
Bloomington. X Games tracks have a
reputation of not being all that flat and
the practice session on Wednesday
proved this would continue here. The
track did get better as the racing went
on. While maybe not up to flat track pur-
ists' standards, it is the X Games.
