VOL. 54 ISSUE 28 JULY 18, 2017 P39
where I needed to be when I fell
heavily and lost a lot of time. It
was my first major incident of the
year so I can't complain too much
but it also shows how fast things
can change. Myself and the CDR
Yamaha team need to remain
100% focused to win this champi-
onship.
"Moto two was good and we
got the race win. There wasn't a
lot to separate the top few riders
this weekend but I was able to get
a nice little gap and ride my own
race."
Filling out the podium was
MEGA Fuels Monster Energy Ka-
wasaki's Brett Metcalfe who went
3-4 on the day for third overall.
"We started off with a bit of a
struggle in practice—it's my first
time here at Shepparton so I was
learning the track and couldn't get
a good feel out there," Metcalfe
said. "Again, I had two great starts
that put me up there in both mo-
tos, and then battled from start to
finish, really. I was lurking around
the front, but I couldn't really do
more than what I was doing to
get up and get the win, or push
for the win. My score was 3-4 for
third overall and I'm pretty happy
with that."
In the championship standings,
Ferris still holds a commanding
lead over Gibbs, 489-435, a
54-point difference. Kade Mosig
is third with 383 points; Metcalfe
is eighth with 297 points.
The MX2 class saw a consis-
tent Wilson Todd reign supreme
aboard his DPH Motorsport
Yamaha entry, as he rode to the
overall victory thanks to a 2-2
moto scorecard on the day. Egan
Mastin was second overall.
Todd holds a nervous eight-
point lead over fellow Yamaha
rider Mitchell Evans, third on the
day. Eleven points in back of Ev-
ans is Egan Mastin (KTM). CN
