Alex Martin. "A-Mart" led a good
chunk of moto one, but he was
under constant attack, first from
Geico Honda's RJ Hampshire
(who led briefly before falling),
then Aaron Plessinger (who went
down right behind him and hit
his head, dropping out for the
day), and then Ferrandis twice,
after the Frenchman passed
The rain came, and I tried to
save my goggles, but I wasn't fo-
cused enough and made a small
mistake and crashed. I tried to
push hard to the end, but the
rain was really strong, and Zach
was really strong, so I saved my
second place. It was really nice
to be back on the podium after
a few rounds of ups and downs.
I'm happy."
Rounding out the podium
overall was TLD Red Bull KTM's
Ferrandis, of the Yamalube/
Star Racing Yamaha team, also
benefitted from his GP-racing
experience on his way to a 1-2
score for second overall and his
best-ever AMA outdoor overall
finish.
"I think we were riding the
same [way], because he also
knows how to ride in the sand
from the GPs," Ferrandis said of
Osborne. "So I put pressure on
him, but he was really strong.
