THE WICK 338 / SOUTHWICK, MASSACHUSETTS

I cross-rutted and had a big
crash. I tried to get going again
but the bike was too banged up,
and unfortunately I had to pull
off. It's such a bummer because
I felt like everything was getting
back on track and I was back to
being up front again."
Musquin now trails Tomac by
a seemingly insurmountable 72
points.
Monster Energy/Yamalube/
Chaparral Yamaha's Cooper
Webb had a strong outing at
Southwick following his huge
ended up tossing it away, nearly
landing his factory KTM 450 in
the VIP spectator area. Moto two
ended with a DNF.
"I was really excited for the
Southwick race," Musquin said.
"We had a good week training
and my knee has healed and
improved a lot this week. In the
second moto, I got a really good
start and got the holeshot, and
I felt really good battling with
Eli up front for the lead. Eli had
gotten by me and I was push-
ing hard right behind him when
Musquin by about a second.
Musquin ended up with a solid
fourth in the moto, which was
pretty outstanding considering
the early fall.
In moto two, Musquin took
the holeshot and led the early
part of the race, and when
Tomac went by him, Musquin
picked up the pace to chase the
Kawasaki rider and try to make
something happen. Musquin put
in his fastest lap time of the race
after Tomac got by him, but he
pushed a little bit too hard and
Tomac ran down Baggett in
both 450MX motos.
