BY STEVE COX PHOTOGRAPHY BY ROB KOY A ttrition is finally catching up to the 2017 AMA 450cc Supercross and Motocross racers. The Red Bull Southwick MX National—round seven of the 12-round Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championships—marked the 24th race in 27 weeks for the 450cc-class regulars, and the only guy left who isn't dinged up is Monster Energy Kawasaki's Eli Tomac. Tomac, already a favorite to win at Southwick after having won the previous two times he's raced at The Wick 338, found his list of champi- onship challengers drop from a realistic three to one after dominating both motos in the north- eastern sand. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's Jason Anderson, third in points heading to round seven in Southwick, suffered a hard get-off the Thursday before the event, and although he at- tempted to ride practice, he was unable to line up for either moto. And Red Bull KTM's former VOL. 54 ISSUE 27 JULY 11, 2017 P87 Blake Baggett (4) and Marvin Musquin (25) lead the way early in the first 450MX moto.
