one. Herrin had the measure of
the factory Yamaha and Suzuki
riders early in both races and
dropped four-time champion
Josh Hayes's factory Yamaha in
his wake to finish 10.376 sec-
onds behind race winner Elias,
who admitted to being surprised
to see Herrin on the podium next
to him.
"The race was really good,"
Herrin said. "A little bit of luck
never hurts anybody, and we've
been working hard all year. No
matter how we get it (a good
result), it feels good to get it.
We've had a lot of bad luck this
year and it feels good to finally
get up here (on the podium).
Behind the factory Yamahas,
Suzukis and the flying Herrin,
the battle raged in both encoun-
ters between the Superstock
1000 machines of South African
Mathew Scholtz (Yamalube/
Westby Racing Yamaha), ring-
in Australian Anthony West (Fly
Street/Motul Oils/ADR Motor-
sports Kawasaki), Jake Lewis
(M4 Ecstar Suzuki), Bobby
Fong (Quicksilver Latus Motors
Kawasaki) and the Superbike of
KWR Racing Yamaha rider Kyle
Wyman.
