CN III VOICES W H A T Y O U A R E S A Y I N G "He absolutely refused to take the shirts unless he paid retail for them." Toni Elias I had the pleasure of emceeing Yoshimura's 2nd Annual Open House, June 17, at their Chino headquarters. Toni Elias was the featured guest. I've inter- viewed hundreds and hundreds of racers over my career and few displayed the maturity and fan friendliness of Toni. He an- swered every question, posed for every picture and was the final person to leave at the end. But what really impressed me was when he told Yo- shimura's Erick "Big E" Bartol- dus he would like to have two Yoshimura polo shirts and Erick attempted to give them to him and Elias insisted on paying. He absolutely refused to take the shirts unless he paid retail for them. I was glad to read of his victory in Utah. He's a helluva racer and a super nice down- to-earth guy. Larry "Supermouth" Huffman Assen MotoGP I saw Marc Marquez trying to bump-start [his race bike] in pit lane—wouldn't it be possible in this day and age to fit electric starters to GP bikes? Batteries are so light and a starter motor is, what? One kilogram? Keep up the great work, Cycle News! Alan Bell RedBud Points wouldn't even be this close if Eli Tomac hadn't had that mechanical at Glen Helen. Even though his "Krapasaki" isn't as good as the KTMs (takes him forever to get restart- ed in a tip over) he more than makes up for it. "Braggett" is the only one capable of matching his speed. Sometimes. Terry Heath Archives: KZ650 Rises Again! I was gathering info on parts when I found out Jim [Knipp] wanted the bike back to restore it. He is the only person I would have sold it to. I began road racing on a KZ650 also but a stock production-class racer. Jim's bike was my dream back then and still is. I was sad to let it go, but knowing Jim got it back was fine with me. To see it now is wonderful. I just hope if Jim ever wants to sell it again, I get first right of refusal. Gordon Lunde Valentino Rossi And he's still racing against the best in the world. In some cas- es, he's probably old enough to be their dad. Stephen H. Clemence Bosch And The Future Very interesting article on the future of electronic aids; I wish you would print more tech-relat- ed articles. But, I must say, like the rest of the world, electron- ics has invaded every corner. I ride 30-40 year old hardware just for that reason. Keep up the good work.
