Bird still held a slim lead over Dan DesRosiers (KT M)and San Diego Kawasaki West's Bob Bell. Up tigh t Husky's Breu Cushing was leadin g his fourth Vet race o f th e veal' and looked to be a shoe in for th e ~\'in . Bill Carr a ppeared to be likewise running off with th e Senior race, As th e six loop race wore on, posi- tions began to change. On the third la p, Livingston took the lead from Ken nedy. Early leader Bird crashed hard and retired after three laps.Joey Lane was plugging along, in third now,on hi s spa re hik e after his race bik e couldn't be repaired in time for this race, Stephen Plourd (Yam) was flying around th e track and had gone from 3ith on th e firs t lap to 10th overall and th e Vet lead.Cus hing was now in second and feeling pressure from Pat Flanagan (Yam) on ly two positio ns hack. Roger Adsit was thumpi ng h is four-stroke Husky af ter Carr as th e bail ie for first Senior tighten ed up. With just under two la ps 10 go, Kennedy was determin ed to mak e Liv ingston earn th e win by passing him back in th e silt hi lls . Livingston, caugh t by sur prise, couldn' t beli eve it. Moen sti ll finished a respecta ble second overa ll after edg- ing his way past Kennedy just befor e thefin ish . Rick Lee, number oneSRA Open Honda rider had ridd en a steady race and worked into fourth overa ll, third Open. John Marking, normally an Open rider, adapted well t9 his new mount and trailed in fifth , second 250. Brvan Hart (Hus) sn uck into th e top 10and thi n l 250 des pi te a fla t and .brok en spokes.
