AMERICAN FLAT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 9 / JUNE 24, 2017
ALLEN COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS / LIMA, OHIO
P68
T
he 2017 American Flat
Track season has reached
its halfway point, and for
the first time, the top of the box
in the victory circle was not
occupied by a member of the
Indian Motorcycle "Wrecking
Crew." Zanotti Racing's Briar
Bauman scored the upset victory
in convincing fashion, leading
the last 22 of 25 laps including a
restart.
The Allen County Fairgrounds
"pea gravel" half-mile oval lived
up to it's reputation, provid-
ing a multi-line, action-packed
surface. The only true cushion
half mile on the schedule, the
venerable facility has a history
of providing first-time winners,
and although it was Bauman's
third GNC win, it was his first on
a twin.
"I can't even put it into words,
I'm just really proud to get this
win," said Bauman. "I put a lot
into it. I can't thank the team
enough for believing in me, and
Dave Zanotti for giving me the
opportunity."
