Eddie Lawson was leading th e troops until echanical problems held him back and eyers was more than happy to take ver and collect the bucks. Nichols was cond, Steve Scott fmished third. Tim McWhorter, on Butch Silvas uper-tuned Yamaha, collected the coin the that was right behind him, after he got Cliff out of the way, but he didn ' t have enough to get Dylan. Rob Selvy chalked up a double win in ..' the 250 Novice TI and half-mile along with 'a transfer to Amateur. Eddie San Roman had to work for a the 250 Expert Twin, win in nevertheless, he pulled it off topping Doug Davenport and Ken Renner. Ray Lovell and Don Driggs shared the Open Amateur honors with Ray topping Greg Norby on the TI and Don topping Rayon the half-mile. Dave Johnson took the win from Chuck Petty in the Open Expert TI. Bob Bell and Lou Gimenez had to put up with a hard challenge from Ken Griner as they claimed wins in the TI and half-mile . Bob got off 01) top in the TI and started to build his lead while Griner and Gimenez were working their way through traffic. By the time they made it his lead was too great and they settled for second and third. Gimenez didn't mess around on the half-mile money race but dmitted it was hard fought with Eddie wson putting on the pressure and mishing a close second. McWhorter also dded the Open Expert half-mile to his aurels, out-running Don Driggs and erry Peters in that one. Dylan 'Neihar t was hot and took . orne first in the 250 Amateur/Expert and half-mile. On th e TI, newly ansferred Novice Cliff Mathews was oing some far out riding trying to tch Dylan but nothing worked and he ettled for second. On the half-mile it s another Amateur, Cliff Whetstone, half-mile, grabbing a super drive off the line and holding it as Griner settled in for second and Bell got up to third. Jim Beck crept closer to his Amateur transfer as he won the 250cc Division 11 half-mile . Kirk Johnson parlayed a rmm half-mile win from Darren Hulbert into a 125 Novice TI win from Mike Paulson. Paulson won the 125 Novice half-mile and is another rider who had better start thinking about graduation into the Amateur ranks. Terry McCreery and Danny Perkins shared th e 125 Amateur/Expert honors. Terry got the TI win from newcomer Brian Burch and Danny took the half-mile like Grant took Richmond.
