MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 4 / JUNE 17, 2017 HIGH POINT RACEWAY / MT. MORRIS, PENNSYLVANIA P74 that Osborne continues to lead the championship by 18 over Jeremy, with Alex Martin eight points further back in third, with eight rounds—16 motos—still left to run. "It was a great ride," Jer- emy Martin said. "I got off to a good start. Big Al and I were running hot with AP [Plessing- er] and I passed those guys. I felt good. It's hot. We were all suffering today. Zach was riding phenomenal. He came through the pack and I could see he was in beast-mode. It's been a while, so we're going to enjoy this one tonight." CN 450MX 1. Mitchell Harrison (Yam) 10-9 The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team is still working through some issues after their huge day of problems at Glen Helen a couple of races ago. At Glen Helen three of the four PC factory racers had a mechanical failure in one of the motos. Thinking they had the prob- lem licked, Adam Cianciarulo—the only guy who didn't suffer a DNF for the team at Glen Helen—had his bike quit on him in Colorado, although the team indicated it was a different problem. It's too early to tell what it was at High Point, but Justin Hill had a DNF in moto one. Pro Circuit has always had a reputation for some of the fastest motorcycles on the starting gate, and despite that, it's generally rare that they would have engine failures (except occasionally in the sand of Southwick, which puts a much heavier load on the engines than other tracks do), but the team is obviously working through some issues right now. High Point Raceway featured an all-new layout for this year's national. Although the track prep was ham- pered somewhat by the weather leading up to the event, leaving some areas dusty and some areas that were a bit too soggy, the racers generally seemed to approve of the new design. With the race happening on Father's Day weekend, many of the racers were thanking their dad's on the podium, and one racer in particular is a dad himself. Monster Energy Kawasaki's Josh Grant had a solid day at High Point, but admitted he was spending a lot of time thinking about his son, Wyatt, who suffered a broken tib/fib from a crash at a skate park prior to the race. Aaron Plessinger had a big get-off in practice and his handlebar caught him in the groin on his way over the bars. He almost ended up sitting out the race altogether, but decided to give it a go anyway, and ended up with his best pair of motos of the sea- son with a 3-3 for third overall. "I had a bad get-off in practice over there on one of the downhills," Plessinger said. "I just washed the front and bar went into the groin area. So, it was not good." After the second moto, Plessinger expanded on the injury a bit. "I'm definitely in pain," Plessinger said. "It's not as bad as you think it would be, but it's still pretty bad. Australian racer Dean Ferris has been dominating the MX Nationals down in Australia, racing for CDR Ya- maha, and with his weekend off, he decided to fly to Pennsylvania to take on the AMA boys while riding out of the Cycle Trader/Rock River Yamaha semi. He qualified third and then led a lap in the first moto and ended up second. "I didn't actually know where I was going to be at," Ferris said. "I just knew I had to get a good start and deal with the heat, and I did. I got a good start. Passed Josh [Grant, for the lead] and a few other guys. Really happy. Really happy with it. Things went south a bit in moto two, though, as Ferris found himself mired in the pack off the start and couldn't do much with it. He man- aged to come from outside the top 30 to 14th. With rides like this, don't be surprised to see him return to the USA as soon as next year, possibly as a teammate to Cooper Webb. Briefly...
