DAVIS TOPS NY EAST HARE SCRAMBLES
N
ick Davis bested all com-
ers in round six of the 2017
SRT AMA East Regional Hare
Scrambles Championship in
Colesville, New York, June 17-18.
Davis took full advantage of the
new racing venue that attracted
nearly 20 AA/Pro-class racers,
and hundreds of amateurs. But
Davis was the best of the best in
the WNYOA-run event.
Davis was chomping at the bit
to go racing after having been
sidelined with a knee injury, and
he was anxious to go toe-to-toe
with longtime racing rival and
defending champ Kyle McDonal,
both mounted on Beta motorcy-
cles. And when you throw in SRT
KTM's Wally Palmer, racing fans
were expecting fireworks in the
woods. And they got it!
It was Pennsylvania's own
Mathew Keefer, however, who
jumped into the early lead, but
Palmer had control after the first
lap.
Palmer's time out in front was, unfortunately for
him, short lived, as he pulled into the pits on the
second lap after feeling the effects of dehydra-
tion. He ended up 10th in class, 11th overall.
McDonal became the third different leader but
had Davis in his rearview mirror, and it wasn't long
before Davis became the fourth different leader.
That number would stay at four, as Davis man-
aged to hold McDonal at bay the rest of the way
to claim the win.
Jordan Purvis was the top amateur rider. The
New Yorker finished eighth overall and first in the
250 A class.
