MV AGUSTA DEBUTS RVS CONCEPT
M
V Agusta appears to be getting into the
custom space with the arrival of the first RVS
prototype. RVS stands for Reparto Veicoli Speciali
(English translation being Special Vehicles Depart-
ment) and is a new wing of the MV Agusta Casti-
glioni Research Center, aimed at tapping into the
custom scene.
Based off a three-cylinder MV Agusta Brutale
800, this particular RVS is loaded with custom
parts, all created in house at MV's Varese plant in
Italy. The end result is a mix between café racer,
thanks to the clip-on bars and seat design, and
scrambler via the off-road biased tires.
No word yet on when or if the RVS machines
will make it to our shores at this stage, as MV
begins to re-establish itself in the American market
via new, Australian-based importers, Urban Moto
Group. CN
DUNLOP STAMPS HIS AUTHORITY ON THE ISLE OF MAN TT
M
ichael Dunlop (Suzuki) capped off a frustrat-
ing 2017 Isle of Man TT with an emphatic
victory in the blue-ribbon Senior TT.
Dunlop's win would be his 15th on the mountain
circuit, after he topped the only Supersport race
contested this year. In the Senior, he led home
BMW rider Peter Hickman and Kawasaki's Dean
Harrison. It was also Suzuki's first win in the Isle of
Man Senior TT since Adrian Archibald's victory in
2003.
Dunlop's arch nemesis Ian Hutchinson—who
had earlier bested the Superbike and Superstock
TTs for Tyco BMW—couldn't make it a treble of big
bike race wins this year after crashing in the Se-
nior at the 27th Milestone and fracturing his femur.
However, the star of 2017 TT was arguably Peter
Hickman. The British Superbike rider enjoyed a
stellar TT fortnight, taking five podiums from five
starts but still not taking that elusive TT victory.
Bruce Anstey kept his TT win tally going in 2017
when he took out the single lap TT Zero event.
The 2017 Isle of Man TT was marred by the
deaths of three racers. Alan Bonner died after
crashing during Senior TT qualifying; Jochem van
den Hoek passed away following an accident in
the Superstock TT, and Davey Lambert died three
days after sustaining injures in an accident during
the Superbike TT. CN
Dunlop's win marked
the first for Suzuki in the
Senior TT since 2003.
