MIR JOINS MARC
VDS TEAM
R
unaway Moto3 points leader Joan Mir
has been snapped up by the Marc VDS
team, with a three-year deal confirmed mid-
way through the Moto3 race at Catalunya,
June 11, while the Spaniard was pushing to
take his fourth win in seven races.
The latest super-talent to come out of
Spain, Mir won a Moto3 race last year on
his way to finishing fifth overall, easily the
top of a fine crop of rookies. He will move
to Moto2 next year with the team that has
won six out of seven races this year. He is
expected to join Alex Marquez, with current
teammate Franco Morbidelli earmarked for
a move to MotoGP in 2018.
