MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL/AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIPS ROUND 3 / JUNE 3, 2017 LAKEWOOD, COLORADO / THUNDER VALLEY RACEWAY P66 was forced to work his way back for- ward from there. Savatgy slowly worked his way for- ward through the front group until he sat second late in the race, but he was joined by teammate Forkner, who found his groove and blew by Jeremy Martin for third, then brought Martin with him past Savatgy in second. And that's how they finished, with Alex Martin taking his first moto win of the year over Forkner, Jeremy Martin, Savatgy and his team- mate Adam Cianciarulo. "Yeah, I was lucky to get a little bit of a gap there right away, and then I was out front so long that I got a little tight; just thinking a little too much, and hitting the rear brake a little too much, and just sort of using my brain. I was able to turn my brain off there toward the end be- cause I saw Forkner was getting on me, and I switched up some lines. The track was kind of smooth when we started, but it started getting pretty rough and gnarly by the end of it. I'm just stoked. It was a little bit of a rocky first two rounds, but we made a pretty big change this week on the bike, and I've never felt so comfortable." Forkner explained his late-race charge. "I didn't really get going in the beginning," Baggett said. "They have a little bit more speed than me in the beginning, and I just kind of had to settle 250MX Taking things to 6000 feet of elevation will put strain on any athlete, but espe- cially in the 250MX class, it puts strains on the motorcycles, too. Rockstar Energy Husqvarna's series points leader Zach Osborne came into the Thunder Valley MX National with a 21-point lead, and a cold. The Pro Circuit Kawasaki team came into Thunder Valley following three mechanical DNFs at Glen Helen, and a chip on their shoulder. And PC team captain Joey Savatgy came in with something to prove. When the gate dropped for moto one, TLD Red Bull KTM's Alex Martin snuck around the inside of turn one with the lead, snatching the holeshot away from his younger brother Jeremy, on the Gei- co Honda. Behind them came Osborne, Savatgy's teammate Adam Cianciarulo, Star Yamaha's Mitchell Harrison, Savat- gy, Austin Forkner, Harrison's teammate Colt Nichols, Alex Martin's teammate Shane McElrath, and Nichols' teammate Aaron Plessinger. Moto-two winner from Glen Helen, Dylan Ferrandis got stuck in the gate at the start of the moto and rounded lap one in 20th. Osborne crashed out of third only a few turns into the race when his front tire missed a rut, losing 17 spots, and Joey Savatgy came away with the overall win in the 250MX class.
