VOL. 54 ISSUE 22 JUNE 6, 2017 P55
T
he Italian manufacturer SWM plans
to import a variety of dual sport and
supermoto models soon. SWM
is now building motorcycles in Varese,
Italy, in the same plant that used to
build Husqvarnas before KTM bought
the company from BMW, which owned
Husqvarna for a short time, a few years
ago. The SWMs are closely based on the
Italian-built four-stroke Husqvaras built at
the Varese plant several years ago.
Shown here is the 2017 SWM RS 300
R, which is expected to be joined by the
RS 125 R and RS 500 R dual sports,
joining the 650 Super Dual adventure
bike, which we showed you last week.
Supermoto versions are also in the
works.
If all goes as planned, SWM is hoping
to get your attention by offering these
street-legal dirt bikes and supermotos in
the U.S. with a low price point. CN
