BOU DOUBLE WINNER IN JAPAN R epsol Honda's Toni Bou remains unbeaten in the 2017 TrialGP Championship. In round two in Motegi, Japan, May 28-29, Bou topped both days of competition, the tough- est coming on day one in wet conditions. Day two featured drier conditions, but no one could catch Bou, Saturday or Sunday. When things got nasty Sat- urday, Bou clearly showed his dominance, winning by a large margin over GasGas rider James Dabill. Bou easily took the win with 48 points dropped to Dabill's 72. It was, however, close between Dabill and Bou's teammate Takahisa Fujima. Da- bill edged out Fujima by just two points for third. Jeroni Fajardo (Vertigo) was fourth, followed by Adam Raga (TRS). With the easier condi- tions on day two, there was less to separate the riders, so it was critical not to make any mistakes. Bou ended up squeaking out the win by just two points over Raga, 22-24. Albert Cabestany (Sherco) was third with 30 points, and just three points behind him was Fajardo. Fujinami rounded out the top five. "It couldn't be better," Bou said after day two. "Despite suf- fering a lot today, because the race was very easy and it was possible to make mistakes that might have complicated the final result. But we were able to solve it with a zero in the last zone and win the race. I'm happy I could stand the pressure and I want to thank the team for a great job this weekend. We'll see how the next races go, but we had a good start of the world champi- onship." Bou stretched out his champi- onship lead to 15 over Raga, 60- 45. Fajardo is third with 39. CN DAY ONE 1.
