CN III VOICES W H A T Y O U A R E S A Y I N G "You were the best of the best, Nicky, a true champion and an incredible person." Nicky Hayden A great champion and repre- sentative for America around the world. So incredibly sad for racing and the USA. Marlon LeFevre Sad day. I used to think road racing was boring (I'm a moto person), then this kid came along and started racing MotoGP and I was hooked. It's been an obsession ever since. Thanks for the years of racing entertainment, Nicky! Thanks for opening my eyes to how awesome road racing really is. Barry Taylor So accomplished at such a young age. Truly a double threat, from the dirt to the asphalt, he gained a world of friends. He left us with great memories of many epic battles and a friendly smile that matched his personality. Godspeed. Gregory Eddinger You were the best of the best, Nicky, a true champion and an incredible person. Godspeed to you. May your family find peace. We will miss you so very much. Al Banta I met Nicky 20 years ago or so at the Willow Springs race. I was leaning into the long sweeper of turn two, when this Hypercycle Suzuki blew past me. I thought I was going pretty quick! I followed the Suzuki back to the pits and saw this young kid with a radiant smile going over his laps with Carey Andrews. I didn't know our paths would cross over again but they did, and I'm proud to have shared some time with Nicky. Always genuine, the real deal. Some- one to aspire to be. Godspeed, Nicky. Now you've got the best tuner. God. Brian Hudnell Ryan Dungey Calls It A Career Truly class personified, in any sport. People like Ryan Dungey who represent this sport are the reason I love it. No BS, no swinging on a fellow com- petitor, none of that ball-sport/ NASCAR behavior. I thought Ryan would "retire" after the outdoor season, but only he knows when it's the right time for him. His head is on straight, moving towards the future. Tremendous amount of respect for those at the top of their talents that not only have earned the respect of others, but also have respect for their com- petitors. I look forward to what Ryan has plans for in this sport. John A. Stockman Thank you, Ryan, for being a class act. I'll miss seeing you out on the track but hope to still see you at some of the races. Now, on to your next adven- ture! Michael Ruhlin A smart and consistently fast rider who represented the sport well. He seemingly always knew his limit while rarely going too far past it. And for that, he was rewarded with a long and almost injury-free career. Now he gets to walk away with all his arms and legs pointed in the right direction. And a pile of money to sleep on. Job well done. Adam Wright One of the greatest sportsmen in history, and a gentleman. Sometimes nice guys do finish first. Howard Halterman James Savatgy Regarding James Savatgy's comments in CN Voices, thank you James for your input. It's nice to hear what really hap- pened down on the track ver- sus spectator/media specula- tion. I like Joey and hated for him to lose another champion- ship at the wire. But Joey will win again and hopefully raise the SX cup high in 2018! Good luck to Joey, his family and his team. Over the top!
