RACING CHAMPIONSHIP
VOL. 54 ISSUE 19 MAY 16, 2017 P77
Beaubier, Hayes, Elias and,
unfortunately, Josh Herrin.
Despite Hayden's win, the
ride of the day went to Cameron
Beaubier (Monster Energy/Yam-
alube/Yamaha Factory Racing).
The current number one ran off
the track early trying to avoid the
Excelsus Solutions/Lucas Oil/
KWR Yamaha of Kyle Wyman,
rejoining the race dead last and
with a ton of work to do. It was
then we saw the fight in the
champion, as he barged passed
all but Hayden by the finish and
even then, Beaubier was only
0.485 seconds from the win.
That's an incredible 16 riders
he passed, unsurprisingly setting
the fastest lap of the race with
a 1:25.080, nearly 0.4 seconds
faster than race winner Hayden.

veteran showed he's
still got what it takes
to be a serious title
contender after VIR.
