2017 AMERICAN FLAT TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP
ROUND 4 / MAY 13, 2017
ARIZONA SPEEDWAY / PHOENIX, ARIZONA
P70
mere 0.126 of a second back.
Ben Evans Racing/Dave's Cy-
cle Kevin Stollings (Honda), who
is just back from breaking his
collarbone in Charlotte, worked
his way up to a distant fourth.
The battle for fourth was fierce
as John Vanderlaan (Southland
Racing Products Honda), Kolby
Carlile (Parkinson Brothers Rac-
ing Honda) and Wyatt Anderson
(Water's Autobody Racing KTM)
all crossed the finish line to-
gether.
"The guys definitely kept me
honest. I had to ride really hard,
a lot harder than I think I've ever
had to ride on a mile to just keep
them behind me," said Texter.
"The conditions of the track
wasn't as easy as it sounds, as
Brandon Price (Don's Kawasaki/
DPC Racing Kawasaki) and
Tristan Avery (Ron Ayers Honda)
took turns challenging for the
lead.
Price fought for the lead for
five laps then gave way to Avery.
Avery battled for six laps and
actually made a pass for the lead
then slipped off the groove and
dropped to a distant third.
Within two laps Avery was
back in second, but laps ran out
and he finished just 0.041 sec-
onds behind Texter. Price was a
most of the last restart, as he
hustled his Kawasaki all the way
from 12th to sixth in the last five
laps.
Jake Shoemaker (Weirbach
Racing Kawasaki) was able to
pass Mike Rush (G&G Racing /
Machete Energy Yamaha) with
two laps to go for seventh. Chad
Cose (Ritchie Reynolds Rac-
ing Kawasaki) and Ryan Wells
(Briggs Auto Kawasaki) rounded
out the top 10.
