VOL. 54 ISSUE 19 MAY 16, 2017 P59
2018 HONDA
CRF450R/CRF450RX/CRF150R
I
t comes as no surprise that the 2018 CRF450R
motocrosser and CRF450RX off-roader feature
little changes for the new model year considering
the "R's" major overhaul and the introduction of the
all-new "RX" model in 2017, but the R did get one
significant update—electric starting! It's standard
now.
Electric starting was only offered as an accessory
on the 2017 model. It runs off a lightweight lithium-
ion battery that the RX also gets. (The RX already
had E-start as standard.)
Honda says that the R's suspension has revised
settings, as well.
Besides the new lithium-ion battery, the 2018 RX
no longer comes with a kick-start lever. It's been
removed to conserve weight.
While they were at it, Honda also introduced
the 2018 CRF150R and CRF150R Expert, which
has larger wheels, a taller seat height and a longer
swingarm than the standard 150. The small-bore
MXers get updated graphics, which are now similar
to those of the R and RX 450s.
Both motocross models (CRF450R and
CRF150R/CRF150R Expert) are expect to hit
showroom floors in July, and the RX in August.
