WITKOWSKI TOPS OMA NATIONALS IN MISSOURI R ound one of the 2017 OMA Nationals Series, the SRT Grouch XC, was held on the Kirkpatrick family land in rural Memphis, Missouri, May 13-14, and approximately 100 motorcy- cles lined up for Sunday's main event. Mike Witkowski (Maxxis RPM KTM) took the holeshot after the green flag dropped for the Pro line, and the youngster from North Liberty, Indiana, kept his head down to lead all eight of the nine-mile laps that were made up of mostly rolling grass tracks and tight woods trails. He took both the overall and Pro 1 win. "It feels good," said Wit- kowski. "Today was an awesome day. The track was the best we could ever ask for. They put on a good event. I got the holeshot and tried to figure out my bike the first few laps. It just started flowing, and it was fun. I couldn't have asked for anything more." Second place in Pro 1 went to 2016 Pro 2 Champion and Yamaha YZ250-mounted Cody Barnes (Peterson Chiropractic/ Maxxis) after a good battle be- tween him and eventual winner Witkowski. Missouri's own Andrew Smith wedged his KTM 350 between Fahringer and Bonneur to take fourth overall and the top spot in the Pro 2 class.
