Aron Canet took a career first victory in a race of
many collisions, making up for his blunder after
dominating in Austin, putting his EG Honda over
the line just inches ahead of the rider who forced
him into that costly error two weeks ago.
That was Romano Fenati (Rivacold Honda),
with points leader Joan Mir (Leopard Honda) seal-
ing another all-Honda podium, the fourth in four
races.
It was all by the smallest margins. Fourth-
placed Marcos Ramirez (Platinum Bay KTM) was
less than two tenths adrift, after taking the lion's
share of the leading; and the first 10 were over
the line within less than two seconds.
Places were changing throughout in typi-
cal Moto3 style; but pole qualifier Jorge Martin
(Gresini Honda) was never involved in the front
battle, dropping back throughout to an eventual
ninth.
Andrea Migno (SKY VR46 KTM) was moving in
the opposite direction through the pack, but was
finally sixth, behind a late attack from Fabio Di
Giannantonio (Gresini Honda).
Nicolo Bulega (SKY VR46 KTM) and Enea
Bastianini (EG Honda) were locked in battle for
most of the race, closing up again at the end for
seventh and eighth; Juanfran Guevara (RBA KTM)
was tenth.
There had been 12 in the leading brawl, but
Gabriel Rodrigo (RBA KTM) lost touch and fell
back to 13th.
The biggest loser was Darryn Binder (Platinum
Bay KTM), who led several times and was still
right up there when he slipped off on the final
hairpin. A year ago, his brother Brad came from
the back of the grid to win the race.
Unless it was John McPhee (Honda), who qual-
ified 26th after a crash in practice, then crashed
out of the race.
Mahindra's Albert Arenas was 14th, the first
points for the Indian firm.
Mir, winner of the first two races, retained he
points lead, on 74 with Fenati closing on 65,
