TREMAINE TOPS VIRGINIA CITY GRAND PRIX

he 46th annual Virginia City
Grand Prix featured a very
rough course due to this winter's
storms. But to the winner Ty
Tremaine (FMF/RPM KTM Rac-
ing/Carson Motorsports) it didn't
matter as he put on a charge
from start to finish.
Riders start in separate lines
at intervals and this year three
head start positions were auc-
tioned with number-one getting
a five-minute head start. That
meant Tremaine had to over-
come an eight minute, 45-sec-
ond disadvantage to claim first
overall.
"It was pretty dusty out there
and I knew it was going to be a
long four hours, so I wanted to
try and get out front as soon as
I could, " he said. "I made some
quick work and put on a charge
as soon as I could. Then I got
into a good position and held it
the whole race. I want to wish
Tucker Larrieu [the previous
VCGP winner who was unable
to race do to an injury] a good
recovery because I know if he
had been out here it could have
been different."
Before the first lap ended
Termaine had a gap of almost
three minutes over second place
before the first lap ended. At
the finish his overall time was
4:07:28.459, while runner-up
Justin Bonita's finished with a
time of 4:16:40.143.
After reaching the finish line,
Bonita said, "Feeling good, it
was a good day; the course was
dusty and I'm happy with the
second place."
Last year's champion Tucker
Lareieu is in a hospital for a
major spine injury. To help him,
his number-one starting slot
was auctioned off for a five-
minute head start plus other
