the three-time world champ extended his
points lead thanks to his win at the Gaines-
ville season-opener last month.
"We gave it our best shot but it wasn't
enough," Krawiec said. "I've been a bridesmaid
at this race more times than I care to remember.
We had the bike to beat today but when Scotty
red-lighted it caught me off guard. The same thing
happened to Drew [Hines]. We both sat there
without our revs up and after that we didn't have
a prayer. That's the downside of this event. It's an
interesting format and it's cool to do it once a year
but you can also lose because of something that
is not your fault at all."
The Pro Stock Motorcycle class will be back in
action next week at Atlanta. CN

was outrun by his teammate Savoie,
6.817 to 6.813, but he crossed the finish
line first and advanced. Tonglet also
won his second heat against Polla-
check, Karen Stoffer and rookie Joey Gladstone.
Tonglet again was second-quickest with a 6.889
to Pollacheck's 6.886, but he advanced again
due to his quicker starting line reaction time.
"I owe a lot of the credit for this to Jerry Savoie
and Tim Kulinguan, who is my new crew chief,"
Tonglet said. "They gave me a great bike to ride.
Jerry and I talk a lot. He's got a championship
and race wins and you want to listen to a guy like
that. This is only our second race together and
this is going to be a really good team. It's going to
be a long year for everyone else."
For his part, Krawiec had arguably the best
bike at the event especially after he made the
