CLEAR CREEK CLOSER TO REOPENING
T
he Clear Creek National Recreation Area and Con-
servation Act (H.R. 1913) has been introduced in
Congress, reports the AMA. The bi-partisan bill would
direct the U.S. Bureau of Land Management to reopen
the 63,000-acre Clear Creek Management Area in San
Benito and Fresno counties in California for use by off-
highway vehicles.
Introduced by U.S. Reps. Jimmy Panetta (D-Carmel
Valley), David G. Valadao (R-Hanford), Jeff Denham (R-
Atwater) and Paul Cook (R-Yucca Valley), the legislation
also would protect 21,000 acres of BLM land adjacent
to Clear Creek by designating the area the Joaquin
Rocks Wilderness. A similar bill, H.R. 1838, was intro-
duced in 2015 by then-Congressman Sam Farr. CN
The Clear Creek National Recreation Area is
another step closer to hopefully reopening.
VW LOOKING TO SELL DUCATI. OR NOT.
V
olkswagen is considering
the possibility of divulging
itself of its ownership of Ducati
Motor Holdings as a way of in-
creasing revenue following the
"Diesel-gate" scandal of 2015,
where the company was found
to be deliberately cheating on its
emissions targets in the U.S.
According to Reuters, VW
is still in financial turmoil after
receiving the $2.8 billion fine for
emissions cheating, and selling
Ducati off could go a long way
toward relieving some of the
financial stress.
Volkswagen bought Ducati in
2012 for $935 million, and could
get as much as $1.5 billion for
the sale, roughly 15 times the
current its core earnings, which
would put it in the same financial
league as Ferrari.
There is another option open
to Volkswagen with regards to
Ducati, and that is to float it on
the stock exchange, a move
that would allow the company
to raise capital quickly without
having to lose what is a positive
financial asset. CN
VW is considering
selling off Ducati,
even after bikes like
this XDiavel have
proven to be strong
sellers.
