Really had a few good spots on
the track, like the whoop sec-
tion and sweeper beforehand. I
was able to make a lot of good
passes. Obviously you can see
the start wasn't ideal at all. Kind
of had a flinch on the gate, so
that was something else for
us. Felt really good the whole
time. Just can't thank the whole
Monster Energy Kawasaki team
enough. This is pretty cool that
we were able to come back and
do that."
Tomac's teammate Josh
Grant, who won his heat race in
Salt Lake City, matched his best
finish of the year with fifth place.
For the first time in Tomac's
"At the beginning I was really
good [through the whoops] but
all day it was tough," Dungey
said. "In the beginning I found
a good line but that line started
to go so I switched and started
jumping, but I think that was a
no-no. Eli was riding really good
through the whoops so that
chunk of the track he was gain-
ing on me tremendously—I felt
him coming pretty quick."
It was Tomac's ninth win of the
season.
"I was just stuck in a tough
position," Tomac said of his bad
start. "I had to make it happen,
that's all I could do. For us, we
were feeling awesome all day.
