IN THE WIND P48 BINDER HAS BROKEN ARM PLATED S outh Africa's Brad Binder has undergone surgery in Barce- lona and had a new plate fitted to the broken radius of his left arm. The current Moto3 World Champion initially suffered the injury in his first Moto2 test at the conclusion of the 2016 season at Valenica. Yet after months of rehabilitation, the screws, which hold the plate and the bone together, eventually worked their way loose. At the Argentine Grand Prix, Binder discovered the bone had actually re-broken, and despite the obvi- ous (and extreme) pain he suffered, still raced the Moto2 event to an incredible ninth place, his best Moto2 finish to date. He will now sit out this weekend's U.S. Grand Prix at Circuit of The Americas, and looks set to miss the Spanish GP at Jerez on May 7, as well. Meanwhile, the luckless Remy Gardner (son of 1987 500cc World Champion Wayne Gardner), will miss the U.S GP after suffering a broken ankle after being taken out for the sec- ond race in a row in Argentina. He is hoping to be fit enough to race at the Spanish grand prix. CN MOSSEY DOUBLES UP AT BRANDS L uke Mossey (JG Speedfit Kawasaki) took his first-ever win in the British Superbike Champion- ship in race one at Brands Hatch Indy, April 15-16, then promptly followed it up with a second victory to take a perfect 50 points from the weekend. Mossey had to battle teammate Leon Haslam for the win in the opening encounter after pole sit- ter James Ellison (McAMS Yamaha) crashed out, eventually pulling a 3.5-second gap to the flag. Third in race one went to Tyco BMW's Christian Iddon with the returning current BSB Cham- pion Shane Byrne (Be Wiser Ducati) fourth and Honda's Dan Linfoot rounding out the top five. In race two, it was Iddon who took up the charge to Mossey but came up 0.758 sec- onds short at the flag with Haslam taking third. 2015 series champion Josh Brookes (Anvil Hire Yamaha) took fourth with fellow Australian Jason O'Halloran (Honda Racing) fifth. Ducati's John Hopkins took 13th in race one, but improved to ninth for race two. Haslam leads the standings with 86 points, five clear of Mossey at 81 with Iddon third at 65. CN Binder's heroics in Argentina mean he'll miss Austin and Jerez, effectively ending a possible Moto2 title charge. Mossey did the business in style at the tight and fast Brands Hatch Indy venue.
