About the bike:
Now sporting 86K road miles, this bike began its life traveling from Japan to the
USA by aircraft carrier, new and unassembled in a crate. She's on her third owner and
was purchased in 1998 "after six months of begging." The tank originally had the
beautiful 1977-78 Excel black paint with gold and red trim. Eventually, pinhole leaks
corrupted the paint on the tank and it was repainted with the Flying Tiger shark face.
The engine was recently completely overhauled. All the mechanical work was done by
the owner, "which is why it took almost a year to complete." The paint is by Pinstripe-
Hall-of-Famer, Alton Gillespie. "The Landshark' has a lot of hard-to-see little custom
touches because she has always been owned by someone in the motorcycle industry.
