MARCUS REITERBERGER PULLS OUT OF
WORLDSBK SEASON
M
arcus Reiterberger announced his with-
drawal of the remainder of the 2017
WorldSBK Championship.
The German, who finished 16th in the 2016
standings for the Althea BMW squad after suf-
fering a heavy crash at the Misano round last
year in which he broke two vertebra, had not
fully recovered from his injuries and has de-
cided to focus on his rehabilitation away from
the circuit.
"After serious consideration, I have decided
to step away from participating in WorldSBK,"
he said. "We made a strong start last season,
but then couldn't keep up the good results. I
have therefore opted to refocus on making a
complete recovery and on my racing career. I
am very thankful for the experience in WorldS-
BK with Althea BMW Racing Team, and I am
now very much looking forward to
new challenges."
Reiterberger's withdrawal means
Jordi Torres will be the Althea team's
only rider heading into the next
WorldSBK round at Assen in two
weeks' time. CN
SLIMBUD EARBUDS COMING SOON
S
limbud is coming out with a solution
to a common problem for motorcycle
riders. The soon-to-be-released Slimbud
earbud system aims to give riders a proper
Bluetooth system that fits with the contours
of your helmet, rather than sticking in at
strange angles that can cause pain in the
ear and have poor fitment, allowing exces-
sive wind noise in.
The Slimbud system also comes with a
microphone designed specifically for riding.
Called the Chin-Mic, the wired-in system fits
under the rider's bottom lip and allows the
rider to take phone calls and chat to other
riders in a group, just like a normal Bluetooth sys-
tem. The advantage is you don't have to wire up a
Bluetooth and speaker system that compromises
the fit of your helmet.
The Slimbud system is due for release in August
2017. CN
