then started inching away.
"He set a pretty good fast
pace. I was running his line and
moved around," said Smith.
"Once I got by him I was able to
settle in and that's when I was
able to put some distance and
fast laps together."
Baker now had his hands full
as Mees was looking to repeat
Smith's move. On lap 10, Mees
made a big charge down the
front straight. Just as Mees
roared by, Baker's mount went
silent and he coasted around
turns one and two, his night over
with reported electrical prob-
lems.
"Bryan got in front of me and
Brad quick," said Mees. "Brad
was holding the pace up a little
bit, in my opinion. His style
and his lines didn't seem to be
working the greatest. We started
dicing and allowed Bryan to get
away. I cleared Brad then he
broke, I felt like I ran the same

Mees (9) led the pack for a
while but Smith (1) found the
fast lines and nabbed his first
win of the 2017 AFT season.

third and top H-D.
