IN THE WIND P56 TRUMP BLOCKS PLANNING RULE P resident Donald Trump signed a resolution in March allowing use of the Congressional Review Act to block the implementation of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management's Planning 2.0 rule. The rule, touted by environmental groups, was opposed by the AMA and by state and local governments because the rule reduced local input on management plans for public lands. It also failed to address the eco- nomic impact and administrative costs of the proposed changes. U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) intro- duced H.J.Res.44 on Jan. 30. It passed the U.S. House of Representatives with a vote of 234-186 on February 7. The Senate voted 51-48 in support of the resolution on March 7. CN TOP MEN GET DOWN TO IT AGAIN O ne day after they raced for real at Motorland Aragon, the top WorldSBK men and machines tested with eight hours of available track time for the 19 riders who ventured out in bright sunshine and calm conditions. Most riders tested the new lot of Pirelli development tires, too. Some struggling riders on Sunday made prog- ress on Monday, but the same top three as usual— in the absence of usual WorldSBK alien Marco Melandri down in 11th place—were Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team), Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) and Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati). They were all inside the 1:49s, the only ones to get there. Davies, with lots to do and even a swingarm to check on his bike, punched 94 laps into his timecard in ideal testing conditions. Melandri (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) did only three circuit-exits before falling, and 26 laps in all, finally losing the front and then hurting his neck muscles so badly he felt it affected the working of even the inside of his throat. Checks and scans found nothing sinister so he was back at the track, if not riding again, in the afternoon. He feels he should be fit for the races at Assen at the end of the month. Michael van der Mark (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) was fourth quickest, and Sun- day struggler Eugene Laverty (Milwaukee Aprilia), using his many potential chassis changes to great effect, got fifth. Gordon Ritchie No rest for the wicked. Tom Sykes ended the test fastest. PHOTOGRAPHY BY GOLD & GOOSE
