I
t only took two races into the
2017 American Flat Track
season for the Indian Motor-
cycle Factory Wrecking Crew to
sweep the podium. Jared Mees
led teammates Brad Baker and
Bryan Smith home in a historic
finish in front of an enthusiastic
packed house.
For the first time since 1989
professional motorcycle racing
returned to the high-banked
Dixie Speedway. The red clay,
D-shaped, bull ring is nestled
into the hills just north of Atlanta
and appears to be larger than
the traditional short track. The
19-second laps in qualifying
were a good indication of how
fast the action would be.
The worst fears in the pits
Jared Mees leads the way at the Atlanta Short Track.
This was the first Grand National race in Georgia since 1973.
