FAITH, OWEN SPLIT RENO
ARENACROSS WINS
T
he "Race to the Ricky Carmi-
chael Cup" rolled on at the
Reno Arenacross doubleheader,
and despite the domination that
TiLube/Jack Links/Tuf Racing
Honda's Jace Owen has exhib-
ited all year, one round after the
reset in the points standings he
came into Reno, Nevada, and
the Livestock Events Center,
March 24-25 tied for the points
lead. And just as champions
tend to do, the defending Amsoil
Arenacross Champion Gavin
Faith, of the Babbitt's/Monster
Energy/Amsoil Kawasaki team,
took full advantage of the points
reset to go 1-1-2-2 through the
weekend's four main events,
while Owen could only manage
a 5-3-1-1. To make matters even
worse for Owen, although he re-
covered to win both main events
on night two, he failed to make
the Head 2 Head Challenge
on night one, which Faith won,
awarding Faith two extra points
over Owen. And then on night
two, while Owen did make the
Head 2 Head field, Faith won
it yet again, grabbing another
crusical point on Owen in the
shorter, tighter championship
chase.
On night one (Friday), Faith
was leaving as little to chance as
he possibly could. After winning
the Head 2 Head Challenge,
Faith got the holeshot in both
AX main events and led every
single lap, both times in front of
Rockstar Energy/OTSFF/Cycle-
Trader/Rock River Yamaha's
Chris Blose, who managed to
keep Faith honest in both main
events. Owen, though, suffered
poor starts from the second row,
