OFF ROAD FIM SUPERENDURO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 4 / MARCH 18, 2017 PARC DES EXPOSITIONS / ALBI, FRANCE P104 series as favorite to win," Haaker said. "I came out strong at the first two rounds and managed to open up a little gap at the top of the points. I think Jonny [Walker] and Alfredo [Gomez] worked really hard during the break after the first two rounds, but tonight I felt like things were pretty even between us all. "Defending the SuperEnduro title was definitely something different, and quite possibly harder to do. I felt like I rode well track in France would prove much tighter and trickier for racing. Strong starts would be crucial, and although they were not quite on Haaker's side, he still managed to quickly position himself to where he needed to be. He ended the night with a 2-2-3 scorecard for an eventual third overall to comfortably claim the world title. "It's been a very different championship [compared] to last year, as I felt like I started this "It's great to be world cham- pion again," Haaker said. "It's a different sort of feeling than last year. I understand now why they say it's different to defend a title than win one. But getting this done is a huge team ef- fort—Husqvarna, my mechanic Josh, my wife Hannah, and everyone helping to get the job done—without them it wouldn't be possible." Faced with a much smaller arena for the series finale, the Haaker didn't get a win in France but he got what he was after—the championship.
