SUPERCROSS ROUND 11 / MARCH 18, 2017 LUCAS OIL STADIUM / INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA P70 MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP I'm a hard worker and we've got a good thing going at the farm, so we'll be back next week for a little redemption." While Osborne and Savatgy were battling up front, there was some great racing action going on behind them supplied by Red Bull/TLD KTM teammates Alex Martin and Jordon Smith; they were battling to get on the podium in third. Martin was holding Smith off until he got kicked and lost the front end heading into a turn and nearly collected Smith, who just did manage to keep it on two wheels and continue on with the race. Smith finished third, though about 25 seconds behind Savatgy. "The track was really tough out there," Smith said. "My Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull KTM was handling great all night. I felt really good today and felt like I had the speed to win. Alex [Martin] and I both got off to a good start tonight with Joey and Zach. I really felt if I could get around Alex I could make a run at those guys, but we got tangled up and it was just tough. I'm glad to be on the podium." Martin got up to finish fourth, just ahead of last week's Daytona winner, Adam Cianciarulo, who started off seventh but couldn't advance. Christian Craig (Geico Honda), who couldn't do much with his eighth-place start, was sixth, followed by Dylan Ferrandis (Star Yamaha), Harrison, Anthony Rodriguez (Venex MX/MTF Yamaha) and Kyle Cun- ningham (JGR Suzuki). CN Monster Energy Yamaha's Cooper Webb was a no-show for the fourth straight race. He suffered a shoulder injury at the Minneapolis Supercross, February 16, and is not rushing to get back on the track, but is instead making sure it's fully healed before hitting the track. He is, however, expected to compete in the next race in Detroit. JGR Suzuki's Weston Peick is still recovering from his broken wrist. According to the team, Peick will have pins removed from the wrist this week and will then begin therapy to increase the range of motion. A date has not yet been set for his return. Peick's teammate Phil Nicoletti has a long way to go before he swings a leg over a bike. He recently had the cast removed from his leg and has been doing therapy on the heel that was injured. According to the team, it will be at least another month before he can even put weight on his foot. It was confirmed at Indy that Dakota Alix will fill in for the injured Benny Bloss (shoulder) on the Rocky Mountain/WPS KTM team for the rest of the 250SX East Series. Alix had a good show- ing, finishing 12th in the main. Christian Craig was one of only a handful of racers who were thought to be likely champion- ship contenders for the 2017 250SX Eastern Regional Championship, but things have panned out for the GEICO Honda star. After 14th-place finish in Daytona, and finding himself 10th in points approaching the halfway point in the short 250SX East series, Craig made some changes. "The week before Indy was no doubt the best week I've had during the season," Craig said. "I got caught up in my own head for the first few rounds and kind of just lost touch with where I should be mentally. I had my mechanic stay in Florida with. I had fun riding again. When you're in season and have all this pressure, it's easy to lose the fun part. I also am having a detox from social media and any dirt bike websites! I need to focus on myself right now so that's what I'm doing. My plan for Indy was to have fun and race for me again, and I did just that." Briefly... 250SX EAST 1. Zach Osborne (Hus) 2.
