In the 250SX East class, Zach Osborne returned to his winning ways and did so in a confidence-inspiring way—by passing his championship rival Joey Savatgy and holding him off. Osborne went on to take the win and extend his points lead to nine over Savatgy. Red Bull/TLD KTM's Jordon Smith was third in what was his second podium of the year (he finished second at Minneapo- lis). 450SX Blake Baggett, on the Rocky Mountain ATV-MC KTM, started things off with the holeshot in the 450SX main and led for two full laps before Tomac came calling. Tomac made a clean inside move on Baggett in a turn, and Dungey, who had to qualify for the main through a semi but was still able to get a strong start, didn't waste any time getting around Baggett, too, pulling off a pass of his own rite through a rhythm section moments later. Now, it appeared to be a championship showdown between Tomac and Dungey, but Tomac wanted no part of that and slowly pulled away from Dungey. Things only got worse for the defend- ing champ, as he began feeling pressure from behind from his own KTM teammate, Musquin, who sunk his teeth onto Dungey and wouldn't let go. Musquin was riding on a wave of confidence after having qualified quick- est earlier in the day and winning his heat race over Davi Millsaps and Baggett, and it showed.
