WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
In Daytona, yes, Tomac took home
the win for the second year in a row,
but a terrible start, followed by an
inspiring charge through the pack
for Dungey, now puts the math much
more in Tomac's favor than before.
Dungey still leads the championship
by a sizeable margin of 17 points,
but unless he figures out a way to
stop Tomac in at least a few of the
remaining seven rounds of the series,
Dungey's championship run could
come to an end.
P
rior to the Daytona Supercross,
round 10 of the 2017 Monster
Energy AMA Supercross Series,
the math showed that if Monster En-
ergy Kawasaki's Eli Tomac could win
the final eight rounds of the series,
and if defending champ Ryan Dungey
(Red Bull KTM) finished second in ev-
ery race, the two would tie on points,
with the championship going to
Tomac on the tiebreaker of having the
most wins on the season. But that's
not how this sport works, is it?
