CN III VOICES W H A T Y O U A R E S A Y I N G "Can Eli finish the season without crashing? Ryan will." Toronto Supercross Wow, Eli Tomac is dialed! Can't wait to see him annihilate the competition at the nationals. I think that perhaps Ken Roczen is the only rider with a shot at matching ET's speed, at least until Cooper Webb is comfort- able on the 450. Barring injury, I think Webb might be the next great cham- pion. Howard Halterman This could come down to just a couple points in Las Vegas. I see Ryan Dungey as a good bet for at least second at most races and ET first for most. The question is the "not most," I think ET is more likely to overdo it in the heat of the race. Just my humble opinion. Dan Connolly To finish first, you must first finish. That's how Ryan Dungey wins his titles. Can Eli finish the season without crashing? Ryan will. Mark Kern Zach Osborne is proof positive that it pays off if you never give up. This guy has been around for a long, long time but has never really achieved what we all know what he is capable of achieving. He's come close many times and many in his situation would've given up by now, but not Osborne. He is a good guy and it's great to see him win the last two rounds of the supercross se- ries. I just hope he keeps it on two wheels and nabs that first championship. He deserves it. Roger Wilford Mid-Ohio Superbike Throwback (1992) I was working corners that weekend and the communica- tion from "race control," when the front straight incident hap- pened, was to clear the track of riders—red flag! Since it was the opposite side of the track from where I was working, I got little infor- mation. We saw the helicopter ambulance leave, but we had the job of carrying on. I was sad to hear we had lost Larry Schwarzbach. I'm from Texas and knew Doug Polen from our racing club, but Schwarzbach was later, so I didn't know of him ex- cept from the weekend's race program. The race weekend had started with a funny get off, as Freddie Spencer rode into the gravel at the Keyhole and exited his practice session—no harm done, except to his ego. Terry Morgan Feels like the pinnacle of American road racing when I see those names. Larry Schwarzbach and Jamie James made an epic MTV Sports seg- ment bolstered with the music of Corrosion of Conformity just before the beginning of the season. Think it was taped at Willow Springs. RIP LS. Tom Liebe Larry was so excited after win- ning 600 Supersport on the aging Yamaha 600. The day went from one extreme to the other.
