In the race I was letting it kind of come to me and then I went for it a little bit on Kyle Ryde, and I just could not stop myself going down the hill. I ran off the track and tried to get myself back on again as fast as I could. I am just a bit bummed about race dis- tance, how it got cut short. That is not really right." CN card Anthony West (West Racing Yamaha), running a stock Ya- maha engine he had borrowed from a stranger who offered it to him and his makeshift team, third, for his second podium in as many years at PI. His bike was way slower than the rest, but his determination and experience saw him third, at least after a massive crash for Jules Cluzel (CIA Landlord Insur- ance Honda) when Federico Caricasulo (GRT Yamaha) lost the front at the bottom of MG and send Cluzel flying. Pole man PJ Jacobsen (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) had a difficult day, eventually finish- ing sixth despite running off the track in the short 10-lap event. A red flag had cut the race to 10 laps, from a planned 15, with that already less than the envis- aged 18. "It was a big twist that whole race," Jacobsen said. "Being P1 all week, I felt really confident. I (Left) Cluzel was sent flying by an out-of-control Caricasulo with just two corners remaining. (Below) PJ Jacobsen couldn't convert his qualifying pace to a race victory on the MV Agusta.
