F
or the first time in history, the
Amsoil Arenacross Series
and the AMA Supercross Series
both took place on the floor
of the same venue, inside the
Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Febru-
ary 24-25. Round seven of the
Arenacross Series was held
the day before the Supercross,
and on a shorter, purpose-built
arenacross-style course, utilizing
approximately three quarters of
the track Monster Energy Super-
cross riders would compete on
the following day.
The first 15-lap 250AX-class
main event saw Team Babbitt's/
Monster Energy/Amsoil Kawa-
saki's Gared Steinke grab the
holeshot, with Rockstar Energy/
OTSFF Yamaha's Chris Blose in
second and Sportland 2/TZR
Kawasaki Team Green's Josh
Osby in third. Owen and Rock-
star Energy/OTSFF Yamaha's
Matt Goerke battled for fourth.
Blose wasted little time in
applying pressure on Steinke
for the lead and successfully
seized control of the main event
on lap one while Goerke also
began moving forward, passing
Josh Osby for third, and bring-
ing points leader Jace Owen
(TiLube/Jack Links/Tuf Racing
Honda) along with him, as well
as Babbitt's Kawasaki's Gavin
Faith, the defending series
champion, into fifth. Goerke's
