weekend in Oakland, but was
rewarded with second place in-
stead after McElrath was forced
out.
"I felt like I was putting a little
bit too much pressure on myself
during the week to do good, so
this week I just went and had
some fun and came back to
Oklahoma, to Reynard Training
Complex, and rode some laps
there with all the hometown
guys, and just had some fun and
hung out with them," Forkner
said. "I've been hanging out with
them all week, so that was good
to clear my head and get ready
for this. The track was tough
tonight and it was pretty easy to
make a mistake, so I kind of just
got out there and got into third
pretty quick and just was kind of
riding behind those guys."
Yamalube/Star Racing Ya-
maha's Aaron Plessinger came
through from a terrible start to
finish third, and moved into sec-
ond in the points standings with
McElrath's misfortune.
"I got off to a really, really,
really bad start and I had to go
outside of some haybales—pretty
much last place—but I charged
my way back up to third," Pless-
inger said. "Something hap-
pened to Shane, but it's a shame
to see that happen to somebody.
But anything can happen."
The problem at this point for
Plessinger is that he now sits 21
points behind Hill with only three
races left to run. CN
Somehow, Aaron Plessinger managed to turn a 12-place start into a fourth-place finish in the 250SX main.
