Taking the 100 Novice flag was Rick Younger. In the 100 Amateur-Expert class it was. a clean sweep for Kawasaki with John Erickson going for the win. The 125 Novices saw Yamaha sweep the class with top honors going to Mark Prescott. A cool and collected Clint Palmer scored the overall win in the 250 Novice competition. This guy shows no emotion on the starting line, but once on the track it's another story. Joe Flores took the win in the 350 Amateur-Expert division. Though the competition is close in this class, not many people are entering it. How about it, you big two strokers? Tradition prevailed in the 500 Amateur race. Riding a BSA "Thumperu to a convincing win was the pleasUre of Greg Scheeis. Rounding out the program for the day were the heavyweights. Before the race I was wandering through the pits checking things out and came upon Dennis Junker's Yamaha. 650. "Clean looking bike" I thought. I looked over at Dennis and he just smiled the biggest smile of confidence I'd seen all day, so it really dido't surprise me too much to see him scoring the win.
