California 90278 Jim Mahn won the 250 Expert dass at CRC Rawhide. Bob Warren 16) was fint 250 Amateur and second overall in the combined dass. CRe Rawhide By The Shadow ELSINORE. CAL., DEC. 2 The Rawhide Park management is to be commended for the super track which greeted CRC riders today. It was great riding for everyone present, whether they be Beginner or Expert rated riders. This is especially true considering the moderately strong storm which swept through the area the day . before the race. Getting into the program, Jim Mahn (Yam) ruled the 250 Expert class with the greatest of ease, posting a grand-sl""" victory. The big battle here was for second place, where 42 points made the final difference. Perry Black (Bul) grabbed second place over William Petras (Hon). At 125 Expert, it was even at 700-alI going into the final moto between Bob Rutten (Hod) and Marcus Phares (Hus). Rutten won all the marbles with a first place ride on the final event of the day. Competition was equally tight at 250 Intermediate. Reggie Ragsdale turned out to be the eventual winner, thanks to his ability to compete in all three motos. A 3/1/2 day in the saddle netted him 925 points and the overall victory. However, it might be well to mention second·placer Bob Warren (Hon), who came on strong with 700 points over his final two motos, despite a DN F on his first ride of the day. Much the same could be said of the 125 Intermediate, where Waymond Williams (Yam), got in all three motos, netting a first and two seconds to gain 1000 points and the overall victory. Here it was Michael Gibson (Pen), wh0 failed to score in the first moto and the DNF cost dearly, as Gibson won the final two motos to place second overall with 800 points. With only two girls on hand Sunday, they were forced to ride with the boys. Once such young lady netted herself a nifty second place trophy in the very hotly contested 60cc Minibike class won by Tony Barbacovi (Yam). Renee Baker (Yam), second behind Barbacovi. A third in the very hotly contested class (125 points between first and third places), went to Rick Hoglund (Yam). Another·final duel at 80cc Minibike, where old reliable Kurt Sofka,jr. (Yam) won, but finish ing only 100 poin ts behind in second place was fast-improving Keith Baker (Hon) - yes, he's related to Renee! In the ovice it was Brian Church (Suz) winning by 25-poin ts at Open ovice: Greg Stone (Yam). fought a good battle in winning the 250 class; Barry Nackos (Hon), had his hands full but finally won the 125 Novice; and AI King, jr. (Pen) was a winner at 100 Novice. ~ CRe Dunes By The Shadow VALENCIA, CAL.• NOV. 30 Bigger and better was about the only way to describe the Friday night motocross card under the lights of the International Course a t Indian Dunes Park, near Valencia. Host for the growing program is the Riverside-based California Racing Club. As for tht classes taking home all the money (100 percent cash payback), the 125 and 250cc Expert classes were the biggest and most exciting. Jim Halt (Pen), opened tonight's CRC program at Indian Dunes with two straight victories, then coasted past second-placer Jeff Black (Suz). Top money went to Hale, with runnerup cash going to Black. At 250 Expert, Rick Salmon (Mai), took home top cash with a grand·slam victory, while Tim Battenscblab (Mai) grabbed second place money. Solid wins in Intermediate went to Everett Angle (Hon), 125; jim Gappa (Mai), 250; and Andy Sebok (CZl. Open. Biggest change could be found at Minibike, where the CRC is offering 50 percent trophies. The victory never was in doubt, with Brian Myerscough (Hon), a grand-slam victor. A very solid second place went to Ron Morrison (Hon), while third place went to Bobby Jones (Hon). There were eight trophies up for grabs in a class of 15 riders. Ron Morrison, again mounted on a Honda, won the 100 Beginner class. Finally, a rundown of the Novice class winners: Brad Roberts (Bar), 100; Stan Hartman (Hon), 125; Bob Vege (Hon) , 250; and Glenn Wheeler (CZ), Open Novice. - ~ CRe Hare Scrambles By The Shadow STODDARD VALLEY, CAL., NOV. 11 Official results from the California Racing Club's Hare Scrambles at Stoddard Valley found Steve Kirk, mounted on a Yamaha, the overall victor and first Open Expert.
