SUPERCROSS ROUND 3 / JANUARY 21, 2017 ANGEL STADIUM OF ANAHEIM / ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA P66 MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES My Own Race: 2 COOPER WEBB 4TH 450SX Yamaha's Cooper Webb was coming off of a tough first couple races to start his 450cc career, but he wasn't about to let it get him down. He started changing things the week before Anaheim II and the results showed with a career-best fourth. "Mainly it was just me with my mindset," Webb said. "There were so many things I had to fix that it was kind of overwhelming, so I just had to take a step back and gather myself. I had a chill week and had just like a normal week for me. Plus, I was able to ride this week, which was good, because before San Diego, I was only able to ride a sand track during the week, so it's like you feel good on that, then you show up at San Diego and you don't even know what a supercross track is." 32 WESTON PEICK 5TH 450SX JGR Suzuki's Weston Peick struggled with arm-pump in the 450SX main event just because the track was so tight and had so many turns, so there were fewer chances to take a breather and relax. "It was really difficult," Peick said of his first top-five finish of the season. "It was probably one of the most difficult races we've had in the last three or four years racing profes- sionally, with the track conditions and the way the track was built so tight with so many 180 turns back and forth in the track. I struggled all day from practice to the main event, and even in the main event I struggled, but I was able to make changes, and at the end of the night, to still get fifth place, that was good. With it being so tight, I rode tight, and got arm-pump about halfway through. But I know my fitness is there, and I was still able to keep my pace, so I think that's the key to it." 33 JOSH GRANT 6TH 450SX Monster Energy Kawasaki's Josh Grant got his ankles repaired in the off- season, and now he's starting to look like the old Josh Grant again. "If you look at lap times, a lot of us are right there," Grant said. "Except for Kenny, Marvin and Dungey, they're on a little bit faster time, but for me, I know the times I do in practice I can do in the races, so as long as I can get a start and do those consistent laps, it should average out to be a good finish like it did tonight. When Kenny made that mistake and went down in that section, it threw my rhythm off because we had to roll that whole section, and I was in a really good flow and feeling good before that. It kind of screwed me up after the sand and almost fell over in the turn, and that allowed Cooper and Peick to get by me, and I feel like I could've stayed in fourth without that mistake. Judging off of our speed at the end of the race, they were all right there, so I'm just a little bummed on that mistake, but I'm happy with how the night went. I never want to be satisfied, I want to do more." 3 ELI TOMAC 8TH 450SX Monster Energy Kawasaki's Eli Tomac didn't have his best stuff on this night. He started off 10th in the main but then could make little headway. "The day started off strong," said Tomac. "I was fastest in the afternoon, I qualified for the main out of my heat and was ready to compete. My jump off the line was strong but I was pushed around and had to settle in midpack. I had a hard time getting my rhythm today. I made a few passes but it wasn't where we're supposed to be. I know we should be up front, we will get back to work and keep fighting for the top of the podium."
