50 Years Ago December 22, 1966
Our final issue of 1966 featured street racing from San Francisco on the cover.
The bar-banging was part of the San Francisco International Sportcycle
Show that was held in the city's underground exposition area Brooks Hall, or
as the locals called it "Mole Hall." The impromptu race was mostly for show…
We looked back at the last 12 months of motorcycling and said "it was a very
good year." In California, motorcycle registration rose by 50,000, bringing the
total number of registered motorcycles in the state
to nearly 300,000, by far the most in the country.
