CN III VOICES L E T T E R S T O T H E E D I T O R "Taddy Blazusiak even does retirement more epic than anyone else." Archives: Indy's Forgotten Raceway Great article about a great facil- ity. Still love IRP! Ned Hart Great write up, Larry Lawrence. Some of my best memories are from IRP—racing WERA Qualifi- ers to one time when it snowed during a spring race. Alan Bertagnoli That place was tricky on a motorcycle when crossing the painted staging lanes for the drag strip. And oh, the fun in the rain down the front straight! Elisha Blish I raced there with WERA in the late '70s; it was still a great road course then. We even saw sprint cars race on the oval the same weekend! James Gainey It was a fun track. Coming out between the west-side grand- stands and blasting down the drag strip, through the shut down...and turn right; then six, seven and eight were a little tricky because of the seams and bumps (staging lanes). The "S" curves heading into the car- ousel turn section were a blast. I won a lightweight superbike race there about mid '90s. Chris Collins I've been to the U.S. Nationals every year since 1990. I knew there was a road course there because of the rumble strips in some of the corners. But, I had no idea about the history and had always wondered what the story was. Pretty cool to know some history like this! Alex Gillott Supercross Format Change: Timed Races I wonder if they are doing this because the races are getting shorter. We are now in the 45-55-second lap times. This might be a good change? Kevin Burner It has to add to the difficulty of building tracks with maintaining somewhat consistent lap times. It may do away with some of the nonsense you have to sit through to watch a live race and make for a little more racing. Whatever the logic, it should make for more racing, which I think is a good thing. David Sears Even with this format change, the racing will still be great. With returning champs, Tomac and other pros going for it, riders on new teams and new competitors wanting their chance at a podium finish, how could it not be fantastic? Maybe they're looking at a less- than-three-hour time slot? Fox Sports has two networks, so I hope it's not about cutting back on airtime. John A. Stockman Taddy Hanging It Up I was there when Taddy was discovered by the masses— Erzberg 2007. An unknown Taddy showed up on a bor- rowed KTM and smoked all the rest. Good times! Darin Moyer Taddy Blazusiak even does re- tirement more epic than anyone else. Michael Chambers Letters to the editor can be sent to voices@cyclenews.com.
