Eraldo Ferracci
Pushing bikes to the
grid, Eraldo Ferracci
is walking beside me
arms full with tires and
tools. When I ask how
come they got you
lugging tires, he says
quickly with his Italian
accent: "Because
I'm a gotta da most
muscles a."
Take care EF.

I was not familiar with
the Eraldo Ferracci
origin story. How cool
is that—invented/
designed the Binelli
mini bikes? If I recall
correctly, they had
a model or two that
were way fast (i.e.,
lots of motor in a small
frame). I would just
stare at these in the
catalog or whatever I
was looking at in the
Summer of '69.
Historically, a lot of
people point to the 916
(and its increased dis-
placement variations)
as Ducati's most leg-
endary superbike. But
the case can be made
for the 888, and this
article reinforces why
(with Fast By Ferracci
clearly deserving a lot
of credit). They were
the game changer. I
always love staring at
them, especially Corse
specs when they show
up at Ducati gather-
ings, race islands, etc.

I will never forget
watching Eraldo warm
up the Ducati in the
pits at Loudon before
the classic. Truly mu-
sic to my ears.
Bob Hastings
I watched him tuning
for "Jeemy" Adamo at
Mosport—what a won-
derful character!
Scott McKay
I spoke with him sev-
eral times in the pits at
Laguna Seca—never
about the bike or the
track, but what he was
cooking for lunch!
Such a generous man,
and damn could he
cook!
Chip Dittrich
Where did everyone
go for lunch when
Eraldo had a moto-
cross team? Yup, you
got it.

Supercross
It's going to be some
great battles between
Ken Roczen, Ryan
Dungey, Jason Ander-
son and a few others
whose names escape
me at the moment next
year.
On another note,
stadium spectator
attendance is down.
Just look at the Santa
Clara Supercross
round last year—plenty
of empty seats.
I'm wondering if
Feld Entertainment is
paying attention! Bring
back the good ol' days
of $20 "tread-head"
seats in the upper
deck. Truly, we're not
fond of the $60-$80
Pass-the-Grey-Poupon
tickets they peddle on
us hardworking, Ameri-
can, loyal motorsports
enthusiasts now! Get
back to the roots of
what makes motocross
racing great again!
