IN THE WIND P36 KTM RC16 TO BE 2018 MODEL A s already known, KTM's new venture into MotoGP will see the Austrians make a track- only model for customers, but this time we have an idea as to what it will cost. Speaking to German publication Speedweek, KTM CEO Stefan Pierer said he hopes the com- pany will build "at least 100 pieces offered at a very affordable price." That price is rumored to be in the realm of $110,000-$130,000, although no confirmation has yet been made. The new bike will be extremely close to what the Red Bull KTM team races in the FIM Mo- toGP World Championship. While no official specs have been released, KTM says the bike will likely have around 240 horsepower, that's only 30 horsepower down on the factory bikes. Kallio booms around the Red Bull Ring on the RC16. If you've got the cash, and you get in line first, you might be able to bag the production bike in 2018. HUSQVARNA CELEBRATES ITS LADY RIDERS I t all started when the staff of Husqvarna Motor- cycles started bulking up with female riders and racers. The Austrian-owned Husqvarna brand (and its neighboring brand KTM) employs dozens of women all the way from AMA National Champions to those who simply aspire to learn to ride some- day, so the company elected to have a ride day dedicated to its lady contingent. It quickly evolved into a regular event, with the most recent affair taking place at Cahuilla Creek MX in Anza, California. Beginners and first-timers received lessons in the parking-lot course aboard TC 85 and TC 65 bikes while the more experienced riders took to the vet track. Husqvarna rider Ashley Fiolek, who is still blazing fast, spun some laps on the main track aboard her TC 125, and even joined the group for some trail riding in the afternoon. The Husqvarna women's ride day is not only testament to the passion behind the company, but also showcases Husky's commitment to a goal shared by the off-road industry: get more ladies on two wheels! Jean Turner Just another day at the office for the ladies of Husqvarna!
