CN III VOICES L E T T E R S T O T H E E D I T O R "One thing I have learned over my 68-plus years is that people will race just about anything you give them." Naked Bikes Over WorldSSP? Been wishing for a class like this for a long time. It would really be more interesting to me to have several different manufacturer engines competing rather than one engine with a bunch of dif- ferent frames that don't relate to everyday riding anyway. Andrus Chesley I'm not convinced that mov- ing from 600 Supersports to a naked-bike racing series will have any direct effect on sales of any particular bike type whatsoever. "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday" could possibly have a measurable effect on a purchaser but mostly on the manufacturer, not so much a class of motorcycle. Let's not forget that the na- ked-style motorcycle is signifi- cantly cheaper when compared to the 600 Supersports of today. If the switch is made to the naked style of bike, I don't think the sales will be directly connected to the racing in a measurable manner. Let's not forget that the excitement level of the 600 Supersport class has not dropped off and seems to not have had any effect on 600 sales at the dealers. But, it may [bring] more attention to the races themselves and that would be a good thing! Rob MacIsaac One thing I have learned over my 68-plus years is that people will race just about anything you give them. So I'm sure this will work, also. Julian Desfosses Great idea! Motorcycle racing deserves a change. It's some- thing new to get excited about. Garry Jay I work at a Kawasaki dealer- ship, we sell about 10 Ninja 300s to one 636, about 20 300s to one naked bike. I like the idea of them starting a 300 Supersport class next year, since there is good competition in that class with all the manu- facturers, but starting a naked- bike class does sound interest- ing and crazy, since they sell less of them than 600s. I think the manufacturer's naked bikes vary too differently in a good way. If they were to race tomor- row I would put money on the KTM Super Duke, Aprilia Tuono 1100 and the EBR 1090SX. The Japanese would need to step up their game or the exotics would have to lower theirs. Jesse James Provencio 2017 Suzuki GSX250R Looks great. I had a 1989 Katana 750. This bike captures the best of the lines of the Ka- tana without the lumpiness, and has the angular GSXR-shaped tank. Didn't see the price, but if around $6K or less, it should do well. Andrew Siminoff Honda and Kawasaki boosted their engines up to 300cc; why did Suzuki build a 250 and not a 300? Nora M. Mace Letters to the editor can be sent to voices@cyclenews.com.
